PA Med wins law suit on MCare

The $808-million misunderstanding…Commonwealth Court has ordered the Rendell Administration to repay $800-million taken from MCARE – the program – funded by doctors - helps pay sky-high malpractice insurance premiums…the Court said the “taking” was improper and had to be paid back…in 2003, the State gave an abatement in doctor payments…MCARE reportedly has $1.8-billion in unfunded liabilities…last year, $808-million was taken from the fund to help balance the state budget…the dissenting judge said the decision would dramatically impact the state budget and result in a windfall for doctors…Governor Ed Rendell said:  “It’s a bad decision.  We created the MCARE fund and we can end it.  We will appeal it.  We will win."…
